Trainer Equivalency and Course Waivers
Equivalency and Waiver Requests
Recognition of equivalency for training is based on prior training which is deemed comparable in terms of learning outcomes, contact hours, and assessment methods.
Recognition of a waiver for training is based on an individual demonstrating comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities through an earned certification which is deemed comparable in terms of learning outcomes.
The Global OSHA prerequisite course #550 requirement will be waived for individuals who possess a Certified Instructional Trainer (CIT) credential issued by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP). The credential must be current and in good standing. See the request form and instructions below for requesting waivers.
The Global OSHA trainer course requirement will be waived for individuals who possess a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) credential issued by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP). The credential must be current and in good standing. See the request form and instructions below for requesting waivers.
Based on their previous experience and training, trainers currently authorized, and in good standing, through the USDOL OSHA Outreach Training Program may qualify for immediate authorization as Global OSHA Authorized Trainers by completing only the eight-hour prerequisite course: Global OSHA #550 Fundamentals of Adult Training. Upon successful completion of Course #550, the trainer may follow the steps below to submit documentation to receive authorization.
1. Required Documents for Trainer Equivalency
1. Global OSHA Authorized Trainer Code of Conduct and Terms of Agreement: Complete, print, sign, and scan as pdf.
2. OSHA Outreach Trainer Equivalency Authorization Request Form: Complete, print, sign, and scan as pdf.
3. Global OSHA #550 Course Certificate: Scan as pdf.
4. OSHA Trainer Course Certificate (#500 or #501): Scan as pdf.
5. OSHA Trainer Card: Scan as pdf.
6. Trainer Headshot Photo: (jpg or png file format)
2. Submit Payment
In order to submit an equivalency or waiver authorization request, the individual must first submit payment through the Payment Processing page. This payment includes processing the request, review of the documentation, and if applicable, issuing the trainer a new Global OSHA Authorized Trainer card. Please select "Equivalency/Waiver Request" with a quantity of one (1). Then enter the desired payment method. After payment is completed, please note the invoice number. The invoice number must be included in the email body and subject line.
3. Send Request via Email with Documents Attached
Send the authorization request via email with the required documents included as attachments. The body of the email must include the trainer's full name and mailing address and the payment invoice number. The email subject line must be labeled as follows: Trainer Last Name, Equivalency/Waiver Authorization Request, Invoice Number. Send the email to: outreach@globalosha.org
Equivalency and waiver authorization requests will be processed within 7-10 business days. Upon successful review and approval of the documentation, the individual will receive email notification from Global OSHA.
